- What is the location of ISLJP?
-
For the 2012-13 school year, ISLJP will be located at 822 S. Clearview Parkway. This location is currently a JPPSS administrative building; however, it boasts classroom sized spaces and adequate outdoor play areas. Our long-term location is contingent on the availability of an agreeable building. We would like ISLJP to remain on the Eastbank at an easily accessible location for both sides of the river.
- Will transportation be provided to ISLJP students?
-
Yes. Although we are unable to provide individual neighborhood service, we will identify transportation hubs. There will be centrally located pick-up points on both the Westbank and the Eastbank.
- What fees are associated with ISLJP?
-
ISLJP will collect a $190 supply fee for K thru 2nd grade students. This means that you will not have to purchase supplies for your child other than a backpack. We ask that students in other grades voluntarily contribute a $195 enrichment fee to cover the costs of consumable supplies for these additional classes. Fees are due by April 30, or at the time your child is accepted for enrollment. You may contact the ISL Finance Department at 504.274.4587 to make payment arrangements.
- What “gaps” do you foresee in the resources that will be available in the first couple of years of the new school’s existence?
-
ISLJP will focus on meeting the learning needs of all our students. We have the academic resources, supports, experience, expertise and organizational structure to ensure that our students receive a high-quality education. We do not foresee any gaps in resources not experienced by other school currently in operation. ISLJP will rely on the support of ISL’s Department of Institutional Development to find additional funding as needed.
- How can we keep informed on the most recent developments with ISLJP?
-
The ISL website will be updated with Jefferson Parish information on a regular basis.
- Will the schedule be the same as the other ISL schools?
-
ISLJP will follow the same schedule as other ISL schools. The 2012-13 School Calendar can be found HERE.
- What are the ISLJP school hours?
-
Students at ISLJP will begin the normal school day no later than 8:30am, and they will end the normal school day no later than 4:00pm. As we finalize arrangements with transportation providers, we will determine specific start and end times. Before and after-school care will be provided on a fee-for-service basis. Before-school care will be available for up to 45 minutes before the normal school day begins. After-school care will be provided from dismissal to 5:30pm.
- Will ISLJP students be required to wear uniforms?
-
Yes. Students at ISLJP will be required to wear the same uniforms as ISL schools in Orleans Parish. Uniforms can be purchased online or by phone at Land’s End (www.landsend.com or 1.800.963.4816) and French Toast (www.frenchtoast.com or 1.800.373.6248). ISL participates in the school uniform program with both providers. The school code for Land’s End is 900120965; the school code for French Toast is QS5BILR. ISL receives a donation for every uniform purchased through these two outlets. If you prefer to purchase in store, you can see a list of local vendors HERE.
- What costs are associated with before and after-school care programs?
-

Prime Time is our after-school program. This program will cost $150 per month for daily service. The drop-in fee is $10 per day with a refundable $50 deposit.
- Who will be the immersion teachers?
-
Whenever possible, we will employ qualified local teachers; however, many of our immersion teachers come to us through CODOFIL (Council on the Development of French in Louisiana). CODOFIL works with the Louisiana State Department of Education to provide ISL and other immersion schools and programs in the state with certified and experienced native speaking teachers from many French and Spanish speaking countries.
- Do you have an estimated teacher to student ratio for the new school?
-
We expect the ISLJP student-teacher ratio will be approximately 12:1.

-
The Clearview site has a large paved outdoor space that will be used for recess and PE, as well as a smaller grassy area that will be available for outdoor learning activities.

ISLJP will offer students enrichment classes in physical education, visual arts, martial arts and vocal music.
