The ISL Westbank Campus is ISL’s new campus. We have the same roles, duties, mission, and goals as the ISL Eastbank Campus. ISL Westbank is unique from ISL Eastbank in that ISL Westbank will provide instruction in Chinese and Spanish immersion. ISL Eastbank will continue to provide instruction in French and Spanish immersion. Also, ISL Westbank is now a Kindergarten only school. We will grow to 5th grade by 2016 as we add a grade each year.

The Westbank location and proximity to our existing campus made Algiers Point an excellent location for ISL.
- What are the general demographics of the students, and why do you think (or know) why the parents chose this school?
-
The demographics of the student body of ISL closely matches that of the New Orleans Metropolitan region; it is a diverse, multi-cultural community that is enriched by faculty and staff that hail from 22 different French, Spanish and Chinese countries. On the Westbank, our Spanish Immersion teachers and Administration hail from the Dominican Republic, Washington, D.C., Mexico and New Orleans. Surveys of incoming families tell us that. overwhelmingly, parents are choosing ISL for its international perspective and language learning opportunities.
- What kind of improvements/changes are being made to the school?
-
The school building has received a complete make over — new paint, carpet and kitchen facilities. Outside has received a face-lift as well, with a fresh coat of paint to the exterior doors and — after this Saturday and with the help of Rebuilding Together volunteers — a spruced-up fence line, play yard and new plants in the garden.
- Are there any special activities planned for the school or community events in which students will participate?
-
Just as with our Coliseum Square campus, ISL Westbank looks forward to being an active member of the Algiers community
