About the Background Check Process
How to Schedule Your Background Check
Step 1: Pay the background check fee
Chaperone volunteers are responsible for paying for their background check ($41.00). This payment is processed by ISL and submitted to the Orleans Parish Sheriff's Office.
Financial assistance is available. To request assistance, please contact your campus Family Liaison.
Step 2: Fill out state disclosure forms and submit a copy of your state-issued ID or Driver's License.
Applicants will need to complete and submit two disclosure forms and a copy of their state-issued ID or Driver’s License. Forms will be emailed to applicants after the Mandatory Reporter Training certificate of completion is received by ISL's Community Engagement Facilitator. Completed forms and copies of ID should be emailed back to volunteerdocs@isl-edu.org. This is a secured and monitored email account.
Step 3: Complete your Background Check
Applicants will receive detailed instructions via email and will visit the Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office fingerprint scanning location during their scheduled appointment time. Fingerprinting sessions take approximately 10-20 minutes.
